Add Access Management & Identity Governance to Google Workspace
AccessOwl acts as an access management layer over Google Workspace to handle automated provisioning, access request workflows, and access reviews.
Built for Google Workspace
Joiner-mover-leaver automation for Google Workspace
Offboard every app, not just Google apps
A suspended Google account still leaves stray logins, open Slack sessions and paid seats behind. AccessOwl closes them in one run.
500+ SaaS apps, no SCIM required
Google provisioning stops at 57 apps (requiring SCIM). AccessOwl covers 500+ apps on the plans you already pay for.
Catch accounts outside SSO
Automatic discovery scans catch accounts made with a username and password, or never connected to SSO.
New hires ready on day one
Stop setting up new hires tool by tool. Each new hire gets their Google account, license and apps on their first day.
HRIS connection
Start and end dates from your HR system trigger onboarding and offboarding.
ABAC Access Templates
Templates for apps, OUs and licenses mapped from HR attributes like role, location and employment type.
Easy access requests & approvals
Request workflows built on tickets and forms break down. IT gets buried, auditors get messy data, and employees wait for access.
Slack or the web
Employees request access in Slack or the App Hub. Approvers say yes in one click, and AccessOwl creates the account.
Time-based access
Approvers can make access temporary, from 30 minutes to 90 days. It's removed on its own when time is up.

Your approval rules still apply

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions
What apps does AccessOwl manage?
AccessOwl connects to 500+ apps and HR systems, including Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, Notion and Jira. AccessOwl primarily works through service accounts and browser automation, so SCIM and API setups arenโt required.
Do I need Slack to use AccessOwl?
No. Everything, including requests, approvals and admin tasks, can be done in the AccessOwl web dashboard, with notifications by email. Teams on Slack can also request and approve right in Slack.
Can I use AccessOwl alongside Okta?
Yes. AccessOwl syncs users from Okta and manages access to Okta-assigned apps through their Okta groups. A request or revocation adds or removes the person from the group, and Okta handles the account.
How do I automate access management for Google Workspace with an MCP or API?
The AccessOwl REST API and webhooks let you onboard, offboard and handle access requests from your own tools. AI assistants like Claude and Codex can run the same tasks through AccessOwl Skills, and every request still follows your approval rules.
Setup and security
How long does implementation take?
Connecting AccessOwl to Google Workspace takes about 15 to 30 minutes, including the first Shadow IT scan. Google stays your identity provider, so thereโs nothing to migrate. After that, you add your other apps one by one by inviting the service account.
How does AccessOwl get access to our apps to provision accounts?
AccessOwl works through service accounts and browser automation. Service accounts have user-management rights, so AccessOwl can add and remove people in each app. SCIM and APIs are used when theyโre a better fit, like for GitHub. Google Workspace itself connects once through a super admin consent.
Is AccessOwl SOC 2 certified?
Yes. AccessOwl has a SOC 2 report, and you can request it from our trust center at security.accessowl.com.
Offboarding
What happens to the Google account when someone leaves?
AccessOwl removes the personโs Google groups, admin roles and license, then suspends the account. It never deletes the account, so you decide what happens to their mail and files.
Does suspending a user in Google remove their access to other apps?
Not on its own. Suspension blocks new Sign in with Google logins, but password accounts and open sessions, like Slack, stay active. AccessOwl removes the person inside each app.
Which apps can AccessOwl deprovision?
AccessOwl removes leavers from 500+ connected apps, without SCIM or enterprise plans. Googleโs own auto-provisioning covers around 57 apps, and most of those need the appโs enterprise tier.
Onboarding
Which HR systems can trigger onboarding and offboarding?
AccessOwl connects to 50+ HR systems, such as BambooHR and Personio. A start date triggers onboarding, and people are offboarded on their last workday at 8 PM local time by default.
What if we run out of Google licenses during onboarding?
AccessOwl only assigns Google licenses you already own and never buys new ones. If none are free, your Google admins get a notice, and onboarding finishes once a seat is available.
Requests and reviews
Can Google groups grant access to our other apps?
Yes, for apps where a Google group grants access, usually SAML apps. Link the existing group, and requests, approvals, reviews and offboarding for that app run through AccessOwl.
How do access reviews work with Google Workspace?
Why is this better than running access reviews manually?
Manual reviews mean exporting user lists app by app and matching them in spreadsheets. Then you chase approvers, who often approve everything in bulk. Apps outside your SSO get missed, and removals are done by hand. AccessOwl pulls the lists, nudges reviewers, removes revoked access and logs each step.
Why is this better than doing access requests through a ticketing tool like Jira?
A ticket only records that someone asked. IT still chases the approval and creates the account by hand, and the ticket often doesnโt show it was done. In AccessOwl, the request, approval and provisioning run as one flow, and every step is logged.
How is this different from an ITSM tool?
ITSM tools handle every kind of IT ticket. AccessOwl is built for access. It knows who has which app and permission, routes each request to the right approver and provisions it. The same access is removed at offboarding or in a review.
Shadow IT
Does Shadow IT discovery read our email?
No. AccessOwl reads Google OAuth grants and the last six months of sign-in logs every day. An optional check looks for invitation emails from known vendors, matching the sender only and never reading the content.
Can AccessOwl detect Shadow AI?
Yes. AI tools show up in Shadow IT discovery like any other app, whether people signed in with Google or got an invitation email. Admins approve or ignore each new tool.
